Spring Concert

How do I feel it went?

Today, along side the rest of the performing arts class and also music students, I took part in the spring concert for the college and was able to watch and support my fellow peers whilst also taking part in the form of choir singing that I did with my class. In total, I took part in 4 different songs for the concert, which is the most I have ever done, so I was quite nervous as I did not want to mess up any of the harmonies or the lyrics in any of them.

Before the concert, me and my class spent quite a while practicing our pieces as this was the first time that we had ever done them along side Harry that was playing the piano for 2 of them. So when we came to singing them some parts were off, but after some fine tuning we were able to make everything flow and sound nice in preparation for the concert.

When it came to how I felt that the concert itself went, I feel that it ran smoothly for everyone and I felt quite confident in my own individual performance of it as well. I remembered all my harmonies very well and effectively along with being able to perform all my songs up and out to the audience so not only would my voice be projected fully, but so that my facial expressions could be seen by the audience so that they could experience the full meaning of the song not only vocally but visually as well.

My strengths and weaknesses of the choir and also of my own individual performance

When it comes to what I feel were the strengths and weaknesses of the choir and our overall performance are as follows;

- We all performed out to the audience when we were singing during our two songs that we sung for the concert. Along with this, when we sung all that jazz, we made sure to not only perform out to the audience but also each other to allow it to keep the energy up and keep it in the feel of a musical theatre number.
- We all were able to hold our harmonies against each other while singing in our numbers that we performed. Some of them may have been slightly weak or off during the performance, however this could be due to us not having rehearsed it along with harry as often, so the way in that he performed the song on the piano may have slightly effected our focus.

When it comes to my overall strengths and weaknesses for my involvement in the choir are as follows;

- I performed the song well not only vocally but also in my physical presence. This was due to the way that I used my facial expressions and posture to portray the mood of the song that I was singing at the time.
- My harmonies were quite strong and solid when it came to how they sounded, however a couple of them were lost during the performance due to nerves. So if I was to do this performance again, I would make sure that I knew my harmonies strong enough to be able to perform them effectively even when nervous.

How I have improved since the start of the year when it comes to singing and harmony work

Since the start of the year, I believe that I have become more confident with my overall singing along with my ensemble singing. For example, I am now able to effectively work in a group environment when it comes to being able to work with other peoples voices and harmonies to be able to sing a song effectively.
